Kirtan’s time at the ArtSciLab at UTDallas saw him transitioning through multiple roles, starting as a web developer and data analyst, then lab manager, and eventually a software developer. This journey spanning over a year offered him invaluable hands-on experience, not just in the realm of technological skills but also in communication. Moreover, the lab’s collaborative environment allowed him to learn advanced AWS tools directly from esteemed professors.
Today, Kirtan serves the state government of UTAH in the Department of Government Operations as an IT Analyst. In this pivotal role, he’s among a select group of five who have access to comprehensive state data, responsible for tracking critical data, including SSN and government IDs.
Reflecting on his transition from the lab to the government sector, Kirtan recognizes the instrumental impact of ArtSciLab. A specific AWS project during his college days played a crucial role in securing his current job. Beyond the technical expertise, his tenure at the lab honed his communication and leadership skills. At times, he led tasks, and this experience coupled with the trust and liberty given by Professors Kathryn and Roger to make decisions independently significantly boosted his confidence.
In essence, the ArtSciLab at UTDallas and guidance of Professor Roger Malina and Kathryn Evans not only enriched Kirtan’s technical acumen but also played a profound role in shaping his leadership attributes and confidence, paving the way for his successful career trajectory.
