Jacob Hunwick started working at the ArtSciLab as a junior designer, Jacob’s passion saw him swiftly move through roles, leading UX designer for our creative disturbance project and even dabbling in project management and videography. His time at the lab wasn’t just about titles but discovery, growth, and the joy of creating. Jacob describes his experience at the ArtSciLab as highly collaborative and dynamic, the ideal environment envisioned by our co-directors, Professor Roger Malina and Professor Kathryn Evans. The environment fosters a culture where global interaction and project involvement are the norms.
Fast forward to today, Jacob is channeling his diverse skill set as the Assistant Products Director at the Hampshire Regional YMCA. He’s revamping old instructional materials for a new era. What set Jacob’s journey apart? His ability to wear multiple hats with ease. ArtSciLab was his laboratory, where he experimented with roles from videography to UX design, discovering his true goal.
For the 50th anniversary of the Leonardo Journal (started by Professor Roger’s father, Frank Malina, and taken over by Professor Roger and converted to a nonprofit) Jacob crafted three extraordinary skateboards, each a tribute to a luminary in the field. These weren’t just boards; they were masterpieces of art and technology, symbolizing the innovative spirit of ArtSciLab. Skating in with these unique creations, Jacob left an indelible mark on the event and the lab.
