Dr. Basak utilizes both behavioral and brain imaging techniques (fMRI brain activity, DTI, functional connectivity, EEG) to understand the mechanisms of memory, cognitive control and complex skill acquisition, and how these abilities vary with age, expertise, and behavioral interventions. Her research incorporates both basic science approaches as well as translational approaches from the fields of experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, neuroimaging, computer science and statistics. Dr. Basak earned her BSc (Mathematics Honours) and MSc (Silver Medalist) from University of Calcutta, India, and her dual MS and PhD from Syracuse University, followed by a Beckman Institute Post-doctoral Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to moving to UT Dallas, she was a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology at Rice University.
