Ohmer’s Journey so far

Omer Ahmed, a double major in Global Business and Marketing, joined the ArtSciLab in Fall 2024 and will serve until December 2025, when he graduates from UT Dallas. As the Marketing & Events Manager, Omer leads a dynamic team comprising a communications specialist, two data analysts, and an administrative assistant. Together, they organize exhibitions, watering hole events, and special collaborative initiatives such as the Arts & Business Threads of Ingenuity and the Watering Hole Seminar at the Crow Museum on the UT Dallas campus.

For Omer, his time at the ArtSciLab has been all about developing leadership skills, expanding his horizons, and immersing himself in the interdisciplinary work that the lab fosters under the guidance of Director, Dr. Roger Malina. The lab’s collaborative culture and focus on blending art, science, and technology provided Omer with a platform to explore innovative ideas and impactful projects.

In January 2025, Omer’s experience at the lab helped him secure a prestigious internship at AstraZeneca for May-August 2025. AstraZeneca, a global pharmaceutical leader, operates at the forefront of medical innovation and research. Omer will join the Global Medical Affairs (GMA) team in the Oncology Business Unit (OBU). Medical Affairs serves as the interface to the external medical community on scientific and medical topics. They are responsible for answering physicians’ questions, conducting studies to generate additional data on approved drugs, and presenting findings at major national and international congresses, particularly in oncology.

The role at AstraZeneca demands a blend of marketing expertise, project management skills, and data analytics capabilities—all areas Omer has honed during his time at the ArtSciLab. With these experiences and his interdisciplinary mindset, Omer is prepared to take on the challenges of a global stage, continuing his journey of discovery, growth, and impactful contributions
